This jam is really really easy to make, so easy that if you start making now, you will have it ready in 30 minutes!! When I made it first, I wondered why I had never made it before..
Last year, I saw it on Smita's place, who had adapted it from Revathi's place, and made it, but forgot to blog about it!! This year, when I saw a lots of strawberries in the market, I remembered the jam and decided to make it again!!
The best thing about this homemade jam?! It is preservative free and made with loads of love and fresh strawberries!! Oh and you can control the amount of sugar in it!! This jam also makes for the perfect homemade gift in some pretty jars!!
Ingredients:
1 Cup chopped strawberry (If you don't want a chunky jam then you can puree the strawberry or finely chop them in food processor. I like chunky jam where I get a piece of fruit once in while hence used big chunks of strawberries)
1 Cup sugar (I used granulated sugar)
1 teaspoon Vanilla powder (You can use vanilla extract, paste or pods)
1/4 teaspoon Apple Cider Vinegar
Revathi, who originally shared this recipe has made it once with only vanilla powder and once with only Vinegar. But I wanted to try with both. You can treat one of these two ingredients as optional.
Method:
1) In a thick bottomed pan, add strawberry, sugar and vanilla. Mix well.
2) Keep stirring and cooking on medium/low flame till you get one string consistency on your jam.
3) Turn the flame off and let the jam cool down.
Store in a CLEAN, DRY glass bottle or jar. And enjoy :)
Notes:
1) If you want you can reduce amount of sugar.
2) As Revathi says you can use different fruits to make similar jam.

DeleteAgreed 100% on home made jams especially about non-preservatives. The jams is simply awesome but we hardly have anything sweet and berries are really expensive over here.
ReplyDeleteI know you are not much into sweets but you can make this jam less sweet too.. And use other fruits like apple, grapes too!!
